When you receive quotations from different suppliers, the first thing that catches your eye is the total price. Instinct may drive you to choose the lowest number. However, choosing that number may mean opting for the solution with the highest risk and the highest hidden costs. It amortizes the depreciation of the CNC machine worth hundreds of thousands or even millions, factory rent, utilities, routine maintenance, tooling wear, and the operator's salary. The hour rate for an ordinary CNC lathe and an advanced 5-axis milling center is worlds apart. The latter can complete complex machining in a single setup. Processes like Deburring, Polishing, and Sandblasting require skilled technicians to complete manually or with specialized equipment, consuming time and effort. Processes like Anodizing, Plating, and Heat-Treatment usually need to be outsourced to specialized third-party vendors.
